Our third round of public consultation activities are now live!
From today, until the 10th February, you can view the emerging masterplan online through an online exhibition and video presentation by the design team.
Once you've had a chance to look at this material, we encourage you to fill in our online survey, which provides the chance to give us in-depth feedback on the proposals and opportunities to tell us your thoughts on a number of key areas. Our second survey, which relates to our work with Social Value Portal is still live, and we encourage you to fill this out too.
These online materials are available on the home page of our commonplace website.
While our workshop sessions are now bookedout, you can also still involved in person by visiting one of our four drop-in sessions. These sessions will allow the opportunity to see all the same material as the workshops and provide feedback to one of our team members. The drop-in sessions will be hosted in the Retail Academy space of Buchanan Galleries, from 12-3pm. We will be holding these sessions on the below dates:
Saturday 28th January Thursday 2nd February Saturday 4th February Tuesday 7th February
Further details of the drop-in sessions and their location are available on our Commonplace website.

Design Team Appointment
Landsec is delighted to announce the appointment of a world class design team to progress the Buchanan Galleries redevelopment masterplan. Internationally renowned Foster + Partners will collaborate with leading Scottish firms Michael Laird Architects and New Practice to bring forward exciting plans for the area. They will be supported by the Glasgow offices of sustainability and engineering experts, Atelier Ten and Arup.
The aspiration of the development, as announced in January 2022, is to replace the existing shopping centre with an exciting new mixed-use urban neighbourhood in the heart of Glasgow city centre, blending fantastic shopping with places to work, live and play.
Nick Davis, Senior Development Director at Landsec: “We are delighted to have appointed a world class design team that will work with city stakeholders and communities to bring forward designs that support the city’s net zero ambitions, creates a new and vibrant district, and extend the city’s iconic and accessible grid layout.”
Proposal Application Notice & Formal Consultation
To progress the initial consultation period a Proposal Application Notice has been submitted to Glasgow City Council. This enabled community engagement partner New Practice to formally launch the consultation programme on 1 June 2022.
Local people and city stakeholders were invited to register their interest via the Commonplace platform earlier this year, and we would welcome anyone not yet registered to visit the hub, by clicking here .
