Good morning, A quick reminder to all about our event tonight! Meet our team at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Thursday 9th March, 6-8pm, at the Strathclyde Suite. A selection of material will be exhibited relating to the redevelopment of Buchanan Galleries, as well as your chance to find out more in-person about what happens next. This is a drop-in exhibition, please arrive at your convenience, there will be a brief introduction and short film screening at 6:15pm - all welcome, tickets not required. If you are not able to attend on Thursday 9th March, there will be a pop-up exhibition outlining the proposed planning permission submissions to Glasgow City Council available to view in Buchanan Galleries (Sauchiehall Street entrance) for 4 weeks, beginning on Friday 10th March. For further information, please see our Commonplace where you can find FAQs and details on our past consultation work. Thank you. Please note: Any comments on the material presented at the Exhibitions should be made directly to the planning authority following the formal submission of the planning application to Glasgow City Council. As part of the future planning application, the Council will undertake normal neighbour notification and publicity at that time, with opportunity to make formal representation on the proposals thereafter via the Glasgow City Council Online Planning Portal (https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/onlineplanning). https://buchanangalleries.commonplace.is/

Buchanan Galleries Redevelopment Design Team Appointed

Design Team Appointment Landsec is delighted to announce the appointment of a world class design team to progress the Buchanan Galleries redevelopment masterplan. Internationally renowned Foster + Partners will collaborate with leading Scottish firms Michael Laird Architects and New Practice to bring forward exciting plans for the area. They will be supported by the Glasgow offices of sustainability and engineering experts, Atelier Ten and Arup. The aspiration of the development, as announced in January 2022, is to replace the existing shopping centre with an exciting new mixed-use urban neighbourhood in the heart of Glasgow city centre, blending fantastic shopping with places to work, live and play. Nick Davis, Senior Development Director at Landsec: “We are delighted to have appointed a world class design team that will work with city stakeholders and communities to bring forward designs that support the city’s net zero ambitions, creates a new and vibrant district, and extend the city’s iconic and accessible grid layout.” Proposal Application Notice & Formal Consultation To progress the initial consultation period a Proposal Application Notice has been submitted to Glasgow City Council. This enabled community engagement partner New Practice to formally launch the consultation programme on 1 June 2022. Local people and city stakeholders were invited to register their interest via the Commonplace platform earlier this year, and we would welcome anyone not yet registered to visit the hub, by clicking here .
